Attachment and Detachment

You saw a sexy, beautiful girl walking by. And you remembered the pains that had roots in desires and attachments. You recalled the anguish of rejections and disappointments. You didn't really do any chasings, but the sorrows were still real and palpable. You have a lot of experiences and successes now, but the pains never went away. You concluded love was nothing but a game of power and control, and deep down had very little to do with the heart. You then had a wry smile on your face and you yourself kept walking on by while words of a song of a bygone era kept coming back to you:

"What you thought was love
Turned out just a game
Played on the wings of dove
And pain was its true name."

Roberto Wissai
