What we studied in school did not necessarily prepare us for a career. Likewise, what we do in order to put food on the table does not necessarily define who we really are.
A man must know who he is (identity) and where he stands in relationship to others (station in life). Of course, he does not have to accept who he is and where he stands. He can fight against himself and others to elevate himself, but the language he speaks, the facts he marshalls, and the logic he employs must be sensical and reflective of truths, otherwise he would project an image that he is a bitter and stupid fool. So many humans feebly and vainly assert themselves but they know and the world know they are nobodies.
Everybody can manage to have a job, save money for retirement, and then die. Real men make a difference in the lives of others either to help bring material changes or changes in the way other people think for the "better", i.e., closer to light and farther away from darkness.
Don't ever confuse mediocrity with true excellence.
