Years ago, you and I were lying

The radio. It said something like
If you go away, you might as well take
The sun and the moon with you.
And if you stay, well, the lyrics escaped me now.
There was no if then;
There was a when.
When you did go away,
The sun and the moon stayed,
But my soul was lost
And my eyes moist
My body heavy
And my heart kept crying for you.
